A recruitment agency has released a new salary guide showing there are still plenty of jobs with salaries in the six figures despite the labour market softening and unemployment rising.
According to Stats NZ, the unemployment rate rose to 3.6 percent in June, up from the previous quarter of 3.3 percent. The underutilisation rate (a rate that measures how many people are able to work and are actively seeking work) rose from 9.1 percent to 9.6 percent.
The data, which was released by Beyond Recruitment, also showed finding talent is still one of the biggest barriers for businesses.
But CEO Liza Viz said increased immigration and higher-quality local candidates entering the market are improving things.
"The aftermath of COVID and long COVID continues to impact nearly a quarter of organisations almost four years on since the onset of the pandemic," Viz said.
She added good skills and people will always be in demand. One of the largest barriers for employers was finding that talent to begin with.
But there are still several industries offering six-figure salaries for jobs despite a softening labour market.
Some of the higher-paid positions ranged from the financial, property, construction, architecture, and customer service fields.
