More than 1.7 million tickets were sold for Wednesday night's unbelievable $43m Powerball jackpot, with more than half sold online.
No players won Wednesday's draw, so it rolled over to Saturday and will be a must-win prize of $50 million.
It's possible for multiple winners to split Saturday's prize too.
According to Lotto's Powerball policy, if it reaches the limit of $50 million, or the number of games hits 52-in-a-row without any winners, then the jackpot must be won on the next draw.
About 52 percent of tickets for Wednesday's draw were sold online, with the remainder purchased in store.
Nearly six in ten people bought their tickets yesterday - proving there's a definitive last-minute rush before the sales cut-off at 7:30pm.
"To avoid missing out, we'd remind people who want a ticket to get in early ahead of Saturday's draw," a Lotto spokesperson told Newshub.
For app or website users, they said it's best to get your ticket on MyLotto ahead of the peak rush at roughly 6:30pm.
Lotto confirmed on Thursday that the maximum $50 million prize has been won twice before, in February 2020, and again six months later in August.
"This is only the third time in Lotto NZ history that we've reached a Must Be Won draw of $50 million, and if won by a single ticket on Saturday night, it will be the largest prize ever won in Lotto NZ's history," said Jason Delamore, Lotto NZ's chief executive.
"We know one or more of our lucky Powerball players is guaranteed a win, so we're ready for a big draw night."
On Saturday, if no player wins First Division, it'll move down to Second Division winners and will be split equally between them.
