An Auckland man approaching the end of his home detention sentence went on the run yesterday.
Police say Casey Cowan, 44, removed his electronically monitored anklet at his address in the suburb of Avondale shortly after 12pm.
He was sentenced to six months' home detention on March 4 having been convicted of committing violent offences.
Cowan is described as Maori, of medium build, 175cm tall, and has short dark hair.
Police urge anyone with information as to Cowan's whereabouts to get in touch.
