The body of a man found at a house in Wellington's Titahi Bay yesterday may have been there for some time, police say.
Officers discovered the man on the floor inside the address after neighbours complained about the smell.
Detective Senior Sergeant Grant Ferguson says police are still working to "unravel the circumstances", but an initial examination suggests the man may have been there for some time.
"The immediate focus of the investigation is to examine the scene and the body, after which we should have a better idea of what has occurred," he says.
"It is important that a cautious approach is taken at this stage, so we can do the best job possible for the deceased's family."
