Workers at New Zealand Post's Christchurch call centre are furious in the face of mass job cuts.
It's been confirmed the centre will close, with the loss of 77 jobs.
EPMU postal industry organiser Joe Gallagher says NZ Post showed absolutely no willingness to consult, which in his view was out of character.
"I'd have to say this is the worst conduct I've seen, and I hope it's not a, you know, flavour of things to come, because [NZ Post] doesn't generally conduct its business like that," he told RadioLIVE.
The job cuts come hot on the heels of a $143 million profit.
Mr Gallagher says NZ Post outright refused to make any compromises or consider any factor other than money.
"We've had a fair working relationship and you know, have been able to engage around big-picture issues. But I'd have to say the treatment of these Christchurch call centre workers by this management team is nothing short of disgraceful."
Forty new jobs will be created at NZ Post's Auckland call centre.
