Wellington's first mobile police station has been put on show for the first time today in Upper Hutt.
It's hoped the new mobile base will give the public a platform to engage with local police.
Police Commissioner Mike Bush says the concept has proven to be a success in low decile areas, with the country's first mobile station launched in Counties Manukau earlier in the year.
"This is about being more visible, more accessible and more mobile."
"It's about getting our police staff out to the communities where they’re most needed," he says.
It'll be fully manned by frontline police officers and will start round on the streets of Wellington tomorrow morning.
