An Auckland school has closed down its email system after its database was hacked and a pornographic image was sent to all student email addresses.
Mount Albert Grammar School sent a message out to parents and caregivers yesterday advising them of the breach.
"We have closed down access to the student email system and an investigation has begun into who is responsible," headmaster Dale Burden wrote.
"We apologise for offence caused through this breach, and are reviewing our security systems to ensure this cannot happen again. The student email database will not be re-enabled until we are sure it is secure."
While Mount Albert Grammar has not commented to 3 News on the matter, a post on the school's website says it is "very upset and concerned about the breach".
"While the student emails are suspended, we will ensure that measures are taken to ensure that a similar breach cannot happen again."
Police say they have not received an official complaint.
