Police have released CCTV footage of a man believed to be involved in two Invercargill robberies within 50 minutes of each other on Wednesday.

The first occurred at 10:48pm, at the Tay Street Night n Day on the corner of Lindisfarne and Tay Streets.

The second robbery occurred at 11:38pm, at the Dee Street Night n Day on the corner of Dee and Hensley Streets.

Police believe the robberies are related. In each incident a Caucasian man, approximately 178cm tall, has entered the shop and asked for money. The robber left empty-handed on both occasions.

A weapon was presented at the Dee Street incident but no one was injured.

Police visited local dairies days following to check store security and offer advice to shop owners.
