Stillwater fire could spread to forest

Multiple fire trucks and a helicopter are battling a bush fire in Stillwater, Auckland, which started around 3:30pm this afternoon.

Firefighters say there is no threat to any houses, and the fire is now under control and no longer threatening to spread to a nearby forest.

Six fire trucks, a tanker and a helicopter were on the scene with 26 firefighters. The fire is covering an area of about 100m by 50m.

One firefighter has sustained an eye injury and ground crews are dampening spot fires after the fire crossed forestry roads, the fire service tweeted.
