Dunedin man's disappearance 'unusual'

It's now been 13 days since the family of missing Dunedin man Stephen Gourlay had contact with their much loved father, and grandfather.

Today his daughter spoke to media about the continuing search for any clues to where he may have gone.

Mr Gourlay turned 52-years-old on December the 23.

When his family called him to wish him a happy birthday there was no answer, and there hasn't been one since.

The family's appeals for information on Facebook has brought them only lead so far.

Mr Gourlay was dropped off by a friend outside Bowl Line on Kaikorai Valley Road. He then walked south, but his intended destination remains a mystery.

He was wearing a black hoody, blue shorts and brown work boots while carrying a black backpack.

Search and Rescue crews have searched walkways and bush areas around where he was last seen, and the suburb of Ravensbourne where he lives.

The family describe him as a shy man who is socially anxious.  But when he's with his family, he couldn't be happier.

With no further information about where he may be, the family are hoping for contact from anyone that will lead them to locating their missing relative.
