The national bloodstock sales get underway next week and as usual they'll be preceded by the country's richest race on Sunday night at Ellerslie.
The Karaka Million will feature the graduates of last year's sale, and among the owners is a famous All Black chasing his second win in the 1200m dash for cash.
Tending to his Te Kuiti garden takes up some of Sir Colin Meads spare these days, and the rest is dedicated to his passion for horse racing.
Sir Colin has already tasted success in the Karaka Million with Ruud Awakening blazing to glory five years ago.
And he has a chance once again with the Stephen McKee trained Tenessee.
