The country's biggest musical instrument is being put together at Auckland's Holy Trinity Cathedral.
The church has paid $4 million for a pipe organ that will stand almost 10-metres tall.
Cathedral organist Philip Smith says it's been in the pipeline for six years.
"It's about the length of a bus, actually," he says. "That's the longest pipe in the organ.
"There's almost 6000 of them ranging from that size, and the smallest pipe is the size of a pencil."
Mr Smith says he's itching to play the immense instrument.
"I'm always very careful these days as I cross the road, just in case I'm run over by the Link bus. I'd be really upset if that happened before it was finished."
Today the first of seven 40-foot containers arrived from the UK.
