New Zealand's first David Jones department store is getting its last lick of paint before its grand opening in Wellington tomorrow.
The upmarket Australian store has taken over the former Kirkcaldie and Stains site on Lambton Quay and will stock international fashion and beauty brands.
Fashion heavyweights and the Prime Minister will attend a red carpet event at the store tonight before it opens at 9am tomorrow.
It's the first outlet of the store to open outside Australia.
Fifty former Kirkcaldie and Stains employees have been re-employed at the new store.
Retail NZ says the opening is a real vote of confidence in the future of New Zealand's retail market.
