A new $10 million ski lift with gondola cabins will be installed at Cardrona Ski Field near Wanaka.
The 'Chondola' will combine 10 gondola cabins and 40 six-seater chairs, all on the same lift.

The fully enclosed cabins have a capacity to carry up to eight people inside that will enable first time skiers and snowboarders to walk on and off the cabin and ride to the top of the mountain.
The new lift replaces the McDougall 30-year-old Quad chairlift and will be 100-metres closer to the base area.
Construction will start in October 2016 and completed for the 2017 ski season.
