When was the last time you checked your phone? Perhaps you're reading this article on your mobile device right now.
Around 70 percent of New Zealanders now own a mobile device, and there are fears that for some it's consuming our every waking moment.
At the dining table or in a restaurant you see kids on their phones or iPads, and even at the playground where parents are texting or are on Facebook.
But Christchurch's All Right? campaign is taking the lead in encouraging residents to step away from their screens and take a digital detox.
Addington Café Co-Op was offering free coffee for a day, but there was a catch - patrons were asked to put their phone into a box with no checking or touching for the duration of their visit.
So just how hard was it to put down the screens and disconnect?
