Three days after Lucas Cochrane went missing, search parties have scoured around 80 percent of Whitianga for the teen.
He went missing on Saturday night after attending a party at the Whitianga Fire Station.
Search and rescue teams are into their third day of searching for the 19-year-old and aim to check the remaining 20 percent of the township and beyond before the end of the day.
Surf Life Saving, Coastguard and the Harbourmaster are all helping with the search which now includes boats moored in the harbour and local waterways.
Police say although there is nothing to suggest Mr Cochrane left Whitianga, they will also inspect locations along Tapu-Coroglen Rd and The 309 Rd, the two main routes used to get to the township.
CCTV footage of the area is being reviewed to see if any further light can be shed on the teenager's whereabouts.
So far police have received around dozen calls from the public and say staff are working through the new information.
Locals are also being asked to check their properties.
Mr Cochrane is described as European, 182cm tall and of medium build with short sandy-coloured hair.
He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, dark blue jeans, a cap and Nike sneakers.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 111.
