Dunedin father, daughter convicted of incest

A father and daughter have pleaded guilty to incest in the Dunedin District Court on Wednesday afternoon.

The pair, 37 and 23, were remanded on bail and have been prohibited from communicating, the Otago Daily Times reports. They will be sentenced in November.

It's not the first time they have been convicted of incest, with the woman giving birth to a child in 2011.

The pair, who have interim name suppression, had troubled pasts.

The woman was born after a sexual relationship between the man and his 30-year-old foster mother when he was just 13.

He was not involved in his daughter's upbringing, but the two began a sexual relationship after being reunited in 2010 when she was only 16.

After a conviction in 2012, both were under supervision, with the father sentenced to community work.

A police investigation in 2013 brought the latest offending to light.
