But for Christine Manins, that price is $7500 every month.
Ms Manins has lived with terminal breast cancer for 11 years after being told she would be dead in 18 months.
So far, she has spent more than $250,000 on Everolimus, a drug she would get for free in Australia, England, Germany or Israel.
Her latest scan showed her tumours have shrunk but she wonders how her drug can cost so much.
