For anyone preparing for a marathon, you're likely to be resting, carb-loading and conserving energy for the big day.
But one man hasn't quite received that message and he may be New Zealand's very own Forrest Gump.
Turban-charged and with a flowing beard, Balbir Singh Basra is an eye-catching sight on Auckland's North Shore.
He's an elderly runner that doesn't seem to have an off-switch. Most days he pounds the pavements for five to six hours.
He's up at 4am with the birds and he opens the family dairy before 6am. But Mr Singh Basra hasn't always been a runner.
He started going for long walks and one day walked the 21 kilometres home. It was the beginning of an addiction that would see him getting fit and still running at 77-years-old.
Story went to find out what his secret is.
