One person has died after an accident between two trucks on Wednesday morning which has also closed parts of the Lewis Pass.
Emergency services are at the scene of the accident less than 3km north of Springs Junction.
The Lewis Pass is currently being used as the alternative route to Kaikoura's quake-damaged coastal road.
