It's only a few weeks until Christmas and not only does that mean it's the season to be jolly but it also means it's time for Christmas mince fruit pies.
Christmas mince pies are a staple food for any Kiwi Christmas dinner but these aren't just any pies, these have been judged the best in New Zealand.
The famous Artisan Bakery in Rangiora has beaten out competitors from around the country to be crowned the makers of the best Christmas Fruit Mince pies.
Operation Manager Frank Janssen says this year's entry was the best.
"It's amazing we made a really good one two years ago but this one is even better," he says.
Every year the Baking Industry Association of New Zealand runs the Great NZ Christmas mince pie competition.
President Kevin Gilbert says there were entries from across New Zealand.
"We've had entries from as far as north as Auckland and all the way down to Dunedin," he says.
"We had around 30 entries. We taste them, we look for the quality of the pastry, the ratio, the way it looks, everything."
