A safety organisation says there needs to be more awareness of kids playing in driveways over summer.
It follows a two-year-old girl who died after being hit at a Te Kauwhata property in the Waikato region yesterday.
Kids Safety Aotearoa director Anne Weavers says the death is tragic:
"I think we have to remember at this particular time of year when we're busy, we've got lots of family and friends over, and people are going to and from our property that we sometimes forget how fast little ones can move," she says.
Ms Weavers says parents should check around the car before reversing.
