The cost of sending letters by FastPost is increasing by 50 cents.
NZ Post says the number of letters being sent each year continues to decline by about 60 million items a year - and despite cost-cutting measures prices have to go up.
There will be no increase in price for letters sent by standard post, but many other services will be hit, including some courier, international and business products, international air parcels and bulk mail services.
Business accounts will see an increase of 2.55 percent on all domestic parcel products, including CourierPost, Pace and ParcelPost.
New Zealand Post says they will "continue to seek ways to improve efficiency and make cost savings to keep the price of sending mail as low as possible in the future."
The price increases
- FastPost medium - from $1.80 to $2.30
- FastPost large - from $2.80 to $3.30
- FastPost oversize - from $3.80 to $4.30
- The rural delivery surcharge for Tracked, Courier and Courier Signature parcels - from $3.20 to $3.70.
- International Air (Par Avion) parcels under 2kg (all zones) - an average of 4 percent.
- International Express Courier parcels Rest of the World (Zone E) will increase by 10 percent.
