A car with a man's body inside has been recovered from the Buller River, on the West Coast.
Police have been searching the river since 5pm on Saturday, after a car was reportedly seen leaving the road on Lower Buller Gorge Rd.
A black dog was found near the scene shortly afterwards, which police believe had escaped the car.
The man found in the car is believed to have been the sole occupant.
Police have yet to formally identify the man.
