Former Auckland Mayor John Banks is back in court, this time for a paternity case.
Antony Shaw, 47, has filed proceedings asking a judge to declare Mr Banks as his birth father.
If successful, the former politician could be declared Mr Shaw's next of kin which brings legal implications relating to Mr Banks' will.
The case begins in the Auckland High Court on Thursday.
