There is a strong police presence at Knighton Normal School in Hamilton East.
At least six police vehicles are parked outside the school on Knighton Road after 11am on Thursday, but they would not give details on what has occurred or how many officers are in attendance.
The principal confirmed to Newshub there had been an incident around 11am, but no children were hurt and the school is functioning normally.
