A public toilet isn't the usual birthing suite of choice but that's exactly what happened at Auckland's Sylvia Park on Friday evening.
A mall staff member told Newshub she was at the bathroom at 5:30pm when a centre management staff member ran past her, "on a bit of a mission".
"She nearly crashed into me… she was heading towards the parent bathroom beside the food court.
"I tried to hang around and watch but I didn't want to be too nosy… I heard a yell in there, and I could see cushions on the floor."
An hour later, the staff member's co-worker returned from his break and said a woman had in fact given birth in the bathroom. Emergency services have confirmed two ambulances attended the incident.
Newshub has approached Sylvia Park centre management for comment.
