Police have charged two men with the 1987 murder of publican Chris Bush in Maramarua, after nearly 30 years of investigating.
Mr Bush was shot dead 30 years ago at the Red Fox Tavern during a robbery. He was having a drink with three staff after closing time when two men burst in, shot him dead and made off with $25,000.
A 57-year-old man was arrested in Tauranga on Wednesday and charged with murder and aggravated robbery, and a 58-year-old man was charged on Thursday in Auckland with murder and aggravated robbery.
"Our investigation was reopened after new information was provided to police," says Counties Manukau Police Detective Inspector Gary Lendrum.
"These arrests have been a long-time coming and we hope this sends a message that police will not give up on finding those responsible for crimes and holding them to account."
