Police respond to firearms incident in Greenlane, Auckland

Police are speaking with a person after an alleged firearms incident on Korau Road, Greenlane.

Officers responded after receiving reports of an armed person on Thursday afternoon.

"At approximately 1:15pm, police received a report that a member of the public had what appears to be a firearm in Korau Road, Greenlane," said Auckland City Police Senior Sergeant Nicholas Poore.

"Police units, including police Eagle helicopter, are responding."

Police have spoken to several people, including one who is helping with enquiries.

"Police are still establishing the facts surrounding the incident and are yet to ascertain whether charges will be laid," says Auckland City Police Sergeant Ian Rose.

"The cordons that were in place are now being removed. Police would like to thank the public for their patience while we dealt with this incident."
