Most of New Zealand is in for a beautiful Christmas day with warm weather forecast across the country, but many parts will see rain later in the day.
Northland, Auckland and Hamilton will have a sunny start to the day but there will be clouds and small showers dampening spirits in the Coromandel, according to MetService.
After Christmas dinner has finished, showers will set in with rain forecast to hit the top of the North Island and Auckland in the evening.
Wellington is forecast to stay dry most of the day with some cloud, but like Auckland will develop some showers in the evening.
The South Island may have drawn the short straw, with wet weather moving in from the morning in Southland, the West Coast and Otago.
The West Coast may even be in for some thunderstorms with a MetService spokesperson describing it as a good day to play some board games.
"It does look like a good day to be inside with some board games I think it is going to be a wet end to the day and a wet start to Boxing Day and amongst all that wet weather, some thunderstorms on the western coast too," the spokesperson said.
In Christchurch and the east coast it will be a hot day with highs of 30degC but eventually succumbing to rain in the evening as well.

- Northland and Whangarei: Fine with some cloudy periods, a chance of showers, high of 25degC
- Auckland: Light sunny spells with increasing cloud and some showers in the evening, high of 25degC
- Hamilton and Waikato: Cloudy with sunny spells, chance of showers in the afternoon, high of 26degC
- Tauranga: Cloudy with some showers, high of 23degC
- New Plymouth: Cloudy with one or two showers, high of 22degC
- Napier: Possible showers from afternoon onwards, high of 25degC
- Wellington: Cloudy with a few showers and strong northerly winds, high of 21degC
- Nelson: Fine with rain developing overnight, high of 23degC
- Greymouth: Rain setting in in evening with some heavy and possible thundery falls, high of 20degC
- Christchurch: Warm with increasing cloud, occasional rain in the evening, high of 31degC
- Dunedin: Cloudy, rain from late morning easing in the evening, high of 22degC
- Invercargill: Some morning rain, cool southwesterlies, high of 19degC
