Police say a robbery in Lower Hutt on New Year's Eve has left the victims "traumatised".

Three men entered the Epuni Mini Market on Oxford St at around 6pm and demanded the till be opened.

Two of them were wearing rubber masks, and another had their face partially hidden by clothing.

One of the men jumped over the counter to break into the till while another threatened the attendant.

A fourth man allegedly kept watch outside as the robbery unfolded, according to police.

"The victims of this robbery are extremely traumatised and are eager for the men responsible to be apprehended," police said.

After the robbery four men fled on foot into a waiting vehicle with a fifth man, and were last seen driving on Cambridge Terrace.

Police ask anyone with information to contact police on (04) 560 2600 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
