Justin Marshall is thanking people who helped him and Robbie Deans after the jet boat the former All Blacks were in struck a log in a South Island river.
Posts on social media show the side of the jet boat with a large gash along it, or as one onlooker put it - opened like a tin can.
"Fantastic trip down the Wairaurahiri River over the last few days but sometimes the river fights back! We hit a hidden submerged log and unfortunately it punctured the boat!
"All safe and no injuries life jackets on and we got the boat out by Heli for some much needed repair work," Marshall writes on Facebook.
He says people should always travel in a group when negotiating challenging rivers safety.
"Amazing river and scenery and as Robbie commented 'we will be back'."
The accident happened in Fiordland National Park on Wednesday, no one was hurt.
