Fire investigators will return to the scene of a fatal blaze at a house south Auckland on Monday morning.
Emergency crews found one person dead at the Mangere Bridge property on Sunday night.
Police say they received multiple calls just before 10pm about the fire, at a property on Church Rd.
Assistant area commander John Booth says all homes should be fitted with fire safety devices.
"We can't reiterate any more than having working smoke alarms in your property at all time, and neighbours keeping an eye on each other. That's always good to see."
The blaze was out just after 10:30pm, NZME reports.
It's believed the deceased was the only person who lived there.
