West Auckland cop Sarah Cato's life was perfect; she loved her job, she was married to her soul mate, and had a beautiful daughter.
But in 2014, everything changed. She was diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer.
"I discovered that it had spread beyond the breast and into the bones, and I was told that it was incurable. It was a complete shock to me and my family," she told The Project.
Sarah is desperate for more time with her family but as the cancer spreads, her only hope is a costly drug called Prejeta.
At $130,000 she can't access it from the public health system, so three months ago she asked the nation for help via a GiveALittle campaign.
Much to her surprise and joy there's already over $116,000 in the kitty.
"New Zealand has come together to give me a chance to fight for my life.
"I will forever be indebted to you. There's nothing that I could say, there's nothing that I could do that will ever explain how thankful I am to all of you."
Sarah began her treatment this month.
