A truck driver has been charged over the Desert Rd crash which claimed the lives of two children on Good Friday.
The 70-year-old is facing two charges of careless driving causing death and two charges of careless driving causing injury.
The crash which involved two cars and two truck-trailer units, killed two kids and injured their parents on March 30.
At the time Senior Sergeant Fane Troy said one child died at the scene, and the second passed away in Starship Hospital as a result of their injuries. Both children were correctly restrained in car seats, police said.
The truck driver has also been charged in relation to logbook offences and will appear in Taupo District Court this month.
Six people were killed over the 2018 Easter period in four crashes.
