Another cold blast is heading towards New Zealand, and it's going to hit us with freezing temperatures, snow and hail.
"Just like last week we have another cold blast spreading northwards and will affect both islands by tomorrow and Thursday," Weather Watch analyst Philip Duncan says.
Most regions can expect colder than usual weather, with snow falling to a couple hundred metres in the south.
MetService has issued a severe weather watch for severe southwesterly gales about coastal Dunedin and Clutha on Wednesday evening. There's also a heavy snow watch for Fiordland and inland parts of Southland and Otago from tomorrow night.
"As the cold front sweeps northwards over the next day and a half expect heavy downpours and hail in the mix too, reaching as far north as Northland and Auckland by late Wednesday," Weather Watch says.
"Canterbury will be one of the coldest regions in New Zealand on Wednesday."
Frosty weather will then move in towards the end of the week as high pressure builds and locks in the colder air.
