Police believe three homicides in the Waikato region over the last two weeks are all linked to gangs.
Dozens of police officers are working on the investigations, but they say the wider community is safe.
Waikato District Commander Superintendent Bruce Bird said the deaths are believed to be targeted acts by people with "significant links with criminal gangs".
"While three homicides in such a short space of time is concerning, I would like to reassure the community that police believe these were targeted attacks, and the wider community is safe," he said.
Wayne Terrence Noda, 48, was found dead in his Huntly home on Saturday June 30.
Nine days later, 23-year-old Robert Nelson died from injuries sustained during a shooting in Melville on July 8, and on July 13 the body of Mitchell Curtis Rehua Paterson, 26, was found in the water below McLaren Falls Bridge in Omanawa.
Three arrests have been made as part of the investigation into the homicide on Friday, July 13. A 27-year-old man has been charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder, a 49-year-old man has been charged with presenting a firearm at police and unlawful possession of a firearm, and a 33-year-old man has been charged with breach of release conditions. They have all been remanded in custody.
Anyone with information on any of the three homicides is urged to call Hamilton Police on (07) 858 6200, or anonymously contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
