They were the west Auckland rock group to secure twice as many pre-sales of their album as the Red Hot Chili Peppers' By The Way, and now Blindspott are reuniting to create big waves once more.

Off the back of a hiatus spanning a little over a decade, the group have reformed with a refreshed energy and new enthusiasm, ready to inspire nostalgia in old fans and create magic to sway new.

On September 21, Blindspott will join The Rock in celebrating the top 1500 rock songs for 2018 by taking to the stage at Auckland's Powerstation, where they will deliver an electrifying showcase guaranteed to be just like the old times.

The live concert is a free event, with lucky punters scoring tickets through the station.

The Phlex recording artists found phenomenal fame around the world after their certified 3x platinum self-titled album entranced fans, launching their sound now renowned as anthems to those who found comfort in its power and energy.

Drummer Shelton Woolright said New Zealand audiences should expect to have their minds blown as they prepare to re-launch their charm and influence.

"I'm looking forward to jumping back up onstage with the boys and smashing out one of the hardest sets this country's seen in a few years. Shit's about to go down," he said.

Vocalist Damian Alexander said he has been waiting a long time for this day, adding: "It will be a defining moment in the history of Blindspott."

The Rock's annual 1500 Countdown is one of the station's highlights each year, with the three-week music extravaganza launching on September 3.

Once the top 1500 rock songs for 2018, as voted by Rock listeners, have been honoured, the band will be ready to remind spectators of the talents that make them so timelessly great.

The Rock content director Brad King said the station is "incredibly proud" to be a part of bringing the original Blindspott line-up back together after 10 years.

"This year's Rock 1500 concert is going to be a special occasion, and you'll be kicking yourself if you don't get a ticket," he said.
