Jesse Mulligan has paid tribute to the late broadcaster Greg Boyed in an emotional farewell on The Project.
The TVNZ broadcaster died suddenly while on holiday with his family in Europe. The 48-year-old had been battling depression for some time.

"I worked really closely with Greg," Mulligan said during Wednesday night's episode. The pair worked on TVNZ's Seven Sharp together in 2013.
"He was a hugely popular guy in the office, and he was at his best as a newsreader and political interviewer. He was so funny, he was just cracking us up all the time."
Mulligan also talked about the moment he learned the devastating news.
"When the news of his death broke today I was reminded of just how many people cared about him.
"I was surrounded by journalists at the time - they're some of the toughest, most cynical people you'll meet - and everyone was just so genuinely shocked and upset.
"There were tears, I tell you, in every newsroom in the country this morning."
He concluded by sending his love to Boyed's family, as well as his colleagues at TVNZ.
"Greg meant so much to so many people, and here at The Project we're thinking of him tonight."
