Police are appealing for information following an incident near Te Araroa police station in which shots were fired.
A police vehicle was damaged as a result of the shots.
The sole charge officer was in the station at the time of the incident, but luckily was unharmed.
Support has been offered to the officer and measures are in place to protect his family's wellbeing and safety.
In a statement from police, they say they take these incidents incredibly seriously and are committed to finding the person responsible.
Both police and the armed offenders squad responded to the incident.
Police are seeking anyone who was around Rata St, Te Araroa around 10:30pm last Thursday.
