Two people have died in Woodville after a crash involving a car and a train in Woodville, near Palmerston North.
Police are currently at the scene.
Three people were in the car at the time of incident. The third person is believed to be in a moderate condition, and is being transported to hospital now.
The Serious Crash Unit is investigating and the road may be closed for some time, police warn.
The crash occurred just before 4:50pm.
Troup Rd, where the crash happened, is closed and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
