Kiwi musician Stan Walker paid tribute to Aretha Franklin of Friday night singing her top hits.
The Queen of Soul died at 9:50am local time at her home in Detroit, surrounded by friends and family.
The official cause of death was due to advanced pancreatic cancer.
Tributes to Ms Franklin have flown in from around the world.
Elton John led the way, describing the loss of Ms Franklin as "a blow for everyone who loves real music".
Mr Walker along New Zealand's own Queen of Soul Annie Crummer sang (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman on The Project on Friday night.
