Coronet Peak ski field was a site of canine chaos on Saturday, as some very good boys got a little cold for the local dog derby.
The Speight's Coronet Peak Dog Derby saw hundreds of dogs and their owners take to the snow for a race to the bottom.
Sliding and tumbling, there was a $750 cash prize for the winner, $250 for the runner-ups, and $500 for the 'Townie Dog' who takes out the shorter race at Meadows Run.
Coronet Peak ski manager Nigel Kerr said the event had been held every year since 1974, originally the idea of local legend and ski field staffer Des Gavin.
"It's really important that we keep the tradition alive, and we're pleased we've been able to keep that connection with our rural roots."
The day also saw a showcase of dog control and handling of working dogs.
