Hundreds of people are still without power in Central Otago after a massive spring storm caused heavy snow to blanket the region.
Northern Southland and parts of central Otago recorded their largest snowfall of the year on Monday, which cut power and closed schools and a number of highways.

The town of Glenorchy remains cut off following the snow.The extent of the damage to Glenorchy Road remains unclear as crews work to get through the first lot of trees that have fallen blocking the road.
Aurora Energy estimates, in total, 653 customers are without power.
In Glenorchy, 360 people remain without power as well as 285 customer sin Fernhill and eight customers across Arrowtown, Frankton, Kingston Rd and Queenstown.
Power has been restored to 783 customers in Dalefield.
Aurora Energy asks members of the public to stay safe, keeping clear of fallen power lines or damaged electrical equipment.
Those customers who rely on medical equipment are encouraged to contact their retailer for any further updates and if there is an immediate health threat to call 111.
