A body has been found in a west Auckland garden shed where there was an explosion earlier on Monday evening.
Fire and Emergency NZ says the fatal blast took place in a shed, which was reportedly was on Don Buck Rd in Henderson.
Police are currently carrying out a scene examination, and are working to understand the circumstances of the incident.
One resident told Newshub the explosion shook her house and "blew out the neighbours' windows", leaving their pets scared.
The shed was well alight when fire crews arrived.
Motorists have been advised to avoid the area, and traffic diversions are in place.
Images on social media show plumes of black smoke billowing from the property.
