Incredible drone footage shows gigantic waves coming within metres of a number of beachfront Hawke's Bay homes.
Mark Sudfelt of Peak Video filmed the surge in Haumoana at around 5:30pm on Sunday.
The aerial footage shows waves continuously thrashing the front of the houses.
Mr Sudfelt says he put his drone 60 metres in the air to see what video he could get.
"I sent it up really high. It looks more impressive looking down [from in the air]."
The region was hit by severe gails and heavy rain last week.
MetService issued warnings and watches for Hawke's Bay along with Gisborne, Taranaki and southern Wellington.
