Multiple Waikato schools have had windows smashed by four culprits over the weekend.

Images posted to Otorohanga South School's Facebook page show multiple classroom windows that have been smashed and broken.

Otorohanga South School is a primary school situated about halfway between Te Awamutu and Waitomo.

The culprits behind the rampage were found "very quickly", the school said in the Facebook post. It's understood there were four of them.

Newshub has contacted police for confirmation.

"I'm struggling to contain my anger as a result of the thousands of dollars of damage to our school from the 20 windows smashed yesterday," the post says.

It goes on to suggest that the culprits will face "some pathetic level of community service".

It then adds that despite having insurance, the school will still have to pay a "large excess".

"It's your hard earned fundraising as a community that gets drained by cynical targeted acts of vandalism like this," the post says.

"Was very gutted to go there and find that," one person commented.

Another called the incident "horrendous".

Newshub has contacted the school for comment.

St Mary's Catholic School in Otorohanga has also been damaged - the second time this year.

A staff member told Newshub two staffroom windows were smashed as well as a window at the school's hall.

A similar incident where windows were smashed earlier this year cost the school $350, the staff member said, and the latest damage could be triple that amount.

Pekerau Primary School in Te Awamutu has also suffered damage over the weekend, a social media user said in the comment section of Otorohanga South School's Facebook post.

Newshub cannot confirm this as the school couldn't be reached for comment.
