A woman in Otago has come out in defence of Mosgiel in light of recent media treatment calling it a township.
Shirley Connor said she was "disgusted" to hear Mosgiel named a township in a recent radio advertisement.
A township was a term used to describe the home of "one man and one dog" she told the Taieri Times.
"I was disgusted by their cheek of calling Mosgiel a township. I think we have been sold short."
Ms Connor said she called Trident Homes Dunedin, which ran the advertisement, to express her concerns.
Staff there did not share those concerns, she said.
Trident Homes Dunedin owner James Cook said he thought the issue to be "minor" and did not warrant an issue being raised.
