Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and her partner Clarke Gayford have had to call in help to deal with a pesky passel of possums at their Wellington base.

Ms Ardern and Mr Gayford initially thought the noises at Premier House were coming from rats in the kitchen, NZME reports.
However, they soon realised that the scratching noises in the walls and roof had a different culprit - possums.
The pests were loud enough to wake the couple at night, and so the exterminators were called.
The Department of Internal Affairs confirmed that a pest control company has been working at Premier House for the past three weeks "in relation to a possum issue".
According to the Wellington Regional Council possums are a major issue in the capital, especially for properties that neighbour bush area, like Premier House.
The problem is so dire that the council is attempting to make Wellington the first "predator-free capital city in the world".
