Prince Harry could be sitting with the Kiwi team at Invictus Games

The New Zealand team at the Invictus Games may have some company in Prince Harry, as he's believed to prefer hanging out with Kiwis.

Newshub reporter Melissa Davies is in Australia covering the games and said Harry often prefers the New Zealand crowd as it's more relaxed.

"He especially likes to go and sit with the Kiwis at these events because Kiwis don't bother him as much for selfies as people from other countries do," he said.

"He doesn't really like taking selfies, in fact he's not really meant to, it's against [royal] protocol"

Harry's wife Meghan Markle told a couple in Nottingham in December 2017 that the family is not allowed to take selfies.

It's believed Queen Elizabeth II is behind the rule - US ambassador to the UK Matthew Barzun told Tatler in 2014 she didn't like them very much.

"She was essentially saying, 'I miss eye contact'," he said.

Harry and Meghan are in Australia for the games, which will run from October 20- 27. Once the games are over they will visit Fiji and Tonga before arriving in New Zealand on October 28.

The couple will visit Wellington, Auckland and Rotorua.
